{"id":161,"date":"2016-03-01T14:11:34","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T14:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/justbloomingfloralart.philandmel.com\/?p=161"},"modified":"2016-03-02T09:44:54","modified_gmt":"2016-03-02T09:44:54","slug":"shades-textures-meaning-in-green-flowers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/justbloomingfloralart.philandmel.com\/index.php\/2016\/03\/01\/shades-textures-meaning-in-green-flowers\/","title":{"rendered":"Shades, Textures &#038; Meaning in Green Flowers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>why am I drawn to Shades of green?<\/h2>\n<p>From as far back as I can remember I have always LOVED green flowers (all flowers but perhaps green flowers most especially!)\u00a0\u00a0 Green in all it&#8217;s shades evokes\u00a0in me\u00a0a fresh, calming, organic and vibrant yet\u00a0restful sense.\u00a0Green is the color of spring,\u00a0 of new life, calmness, and is many times associated with health too\u00a0(think leafy green vegetables good for our minds and bodies).\u00a0 As a cooler secondary colour (a mix of blue and yellow) it might be thought of oftentimes in art as\u00a0primarily a background colour. The background of a traditional painting, for example, is often green and blue while the object of interest in the forefront is painted with warmer colors like reds or oranges.\u00a0 In saying this however, there are very vibrant and bright greens which truly stand out\u00a0in spite of them\u00a0being from a cooler colour pallette.<\/p>\n<p>Branding research tells us that the truth of the matter is that colour is too dependent on personal experiences to be universally translated to specific feelings. But as someone who loves nature and has been blessed to live in countries where the natural world is so very &#8216;green&#8217; I definitely have positive emotional associations to the colour.\u00a0 I am even living in a country where it&#8217;s the national colour!<\/p>\n<h2>Green Flower varieties<\/h2>\n<p>Whilst not an exhaustive list here is a great taster of the tremendous selection of green flowers that are available to flower arrangers.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/modernpetals.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/05\/green-flowers.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"828\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Some examples of wonderful green flowers from https:\/\/modernpetals.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/05\/green-flowers.jpg?w=640<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>So Many Textures!<\/h2>\n<p>For me perhaps the greatest thing about the family of green flowers is the wealth of\u00a0texture that is available. These different textures can help to enforce certain themes you may be considering. to exhibit in my flower club&#8217;s competition.\u00a0 In it I used nearly all green flowers and foliage aside from some white pieris.\u00a0 &#8220;Bells of Ireland&#8221; flowers\u00a0were used to &#8216;connect&#8217; three floral\u00a0groupings which varied in height above a gold circular pot filled with moss.\u00a0 Curled green Midellino canes represented shamrocks at each level and green &#8220;Shamrock&#8221; chrysanthemums as well as button &#8220;Kermit&#8221; March 2015<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bells of Ireland<em> Moluccella laevis<\/em>,\u00a0 is a perennial evergreen or in cold climates an annual, \u00a0used as a\u00a0fragrant ornamental plant.\u00a0 It\u00a0can grow in mediterranean, subtropic or temperate climates. Leaves coloured green are a round shape and are\u00a0arranged in circular tufts around tall spiked stems.
