On the 29th April 2015 I was able to be back home in New Zealand with my family for the funeral of my very\u00a0dear Nana Shirley who lived to the age of 92.\u00a0 Nana, as her mother had been\u00a0before her (and now the generations continue this legacy)\u00a0was a lover of flowers and had been able to design her own celebration of life service.\u00a0 This even involved requesting the flowers and style of arranging that she wanted her funeral displays to be formed in.\u00a0 Nana was extraordinary –\u00a0she adored colours\u00a0and always dressed colourfully.\u00a0 She was seldom seen without a hat.\u00a0 She\u00a0had many of them, so when it came to choosing her casket flowers what could be better than the roses and delphinium blooms that she had grown over the years arranged in floral print Hat Boxes<\/strong>?!<\/p>\n

Nana taught me to arrange the altar flowers in St Matthew Lutheran Church in Hamilton where I grew up so it was such a pleasure to honour her by doing these for her funeral<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

For Florists worldwide\u00a0I\u00a0understand\u00a0that there is a trend for the sympathy flower\u00a0market to have greatly declined and there is a call and\u00a0a need for floral arrangers and designers to revive this type of work\u00a0in new and innovative ways.\u00a0 One such designer who has grasped this is Randy Wooten AIFD http:\/\/www.delorices.com\/about_us.php <\/a>.\u00a0 He’s recently\u00a0written and published\u00a0a book called Jubilation which was launched this week.<\/p>\n

Jubilation<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span>proposes the thought of sympathy in a whole new light, focusing on the life of the loved one rather than the loss of the person by creating a celebration of life event to honor their passions in life.\u00a0 The book is full of ideas and beautiful photos to capture the reader. https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zdlxOJZnzno<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nana’s funeral was a true celebration of life.\u00a0 A joyful\u00a0occasion where\u00a0we\u00a0designed flowers that\u00a0truly honoured her\u00a0passions in\u00a0life.\u00a0I so loved arranging\u00a0with joy\u00a0the many arrangements\u00a0that set off my\u00a0Nana’s funeral so beautifully.<\/p>\n
